Richardson, Texas, April 20, 2017 (Newswire) – Kathrein, the leading global LTE and Broadcast antenna provider worldwide, introduces an innovative solution for broadcasters that must move to new channels after the Federal Communications Commission’s (FCC) Re-Pack auction.
With the broadcast television spectrum incentive auction officially closed, it’s time for broadcasters to prepare for the transition. Kathrein, a leading global manufacturer of broadcast RF antenna systems, has invested in preparation for the transition period. Using its global engineering and manufacturing capabilities in the Americas and around the world, Kathrein has ramped up engineering and production capabilities to ensure it can meet the significant market demand.
The challenges facing the North American broadcasters to transition to new frequencies in the allotted timeframe are significant. A substantial issue will be the capacity of the supply chain to meet the demand for new equipment, especially in antennas.
Kathrein answers the need with the introduction of a new plug and play UHF Broadband Pylon Antenna that can be utilized as an interim step to shut down existing antennas and migrate to a new solution, while staying on the air. The Broadband Pylon Antenna is capable of 60 kW of input power, with a frequency range from 470-698 MHz and can combine 2 broadcasters at 1000 kW of ERP to sustain full power capabilities. The Broadband Pylon has been structurally engineered to hold up against all weather conditions and has a very low wind load to minimize impact on your tower infrastructure. This “stand by” solution is plug and play and easily side-mounted.
